THE ADVENTURE
Welcome to Svalbard! Our adventure begins in the heart of the archipelago, Longyearbyen, which will serve as our base for exploring the Arctic. After checking into our cozy hotel, we’ll take some time to relax until all group members have arrived. In the evening, we’ll go out to explore the town, offering the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with our fellow travelers and share our excitement for the days ahead.
After breakfast, we’ll set out to meet the eager huskies who will guide us on an unforgettable daytime adventure through Svalbard’s pristine winter landscape. We’ll start with a visit to the dog yard, where we’ll meet the dogs raised and trained by a passionate local family. Once settled into our sleds, we’ll glide across snowy fields, marveling at the magnificent Arctic scenery and breathing in the crisp polar air. Back at our cozy accommodation in the afternoon, you’ll have time to warm up and relax. In the evening, we’ll gather for an Arctic dinner at a local restaurant, where you can sample unique specialties like whale, reindeer, or bear. For those up for more, we’ll finish the night exploring Longyearbyen’s cozy pubs with new friends.
Today, get ready for an exhilarating Northern Lights safari by snowmobile. Thanks to Svalbard’s prime Arctic location, we’ll have some of the best chances in the world to witness the Aurora Borealis dancing across the night sky. Our experienced local guides will lead us out from Longyearbyen, venturing deep into untouched snowy valleys to find the clearest skies and most breathtaking viewpoints. Along the way, we’ll pause for a cozy Arctic picnic on a frozen lake near an icy waterfall, sipping hot drinks and snacking while we keep watch for the first shimmering lights. After returning to town, we’ll visit the world’s northernmost floating sauna, where we can enjoy the heat of the sauna and take a plunge straight into the icy ocean, a truly unforgettable moment! Then we’ll plan an evening activity to match the group’s mood, soaking in the unique charm of Longyearbyen by night.
We’ll use the snowmobiles for our trip if at least half of the group has a valid driver’s license. Otherwise, we’ll search for the Northern Lights using a snowcat – a special off-road vehicle designed for snow travel, where the entire group can comfortably fit in.
Today we’ll head out on a thrilling winter hike through the Arctic mountains, starting right from Longyearbyen. Traveling in the quiet darkness of the polar night, we’ll cross breathtaking snowy landscapes that feel like another world. If the skies are clear, we might even catch the Northern Lights shimmering above us as we make our way to a 2,000-year-old frozen cave, an unforgettable Arctic highlight. We’ll pause for a lunch break surrounded by pristine views and crisp, fresh air before returning to town. In the evening, we’ll celebrate our adventure with a night out exploring Longyearbyen’s unique bars.
In the morning, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a few last moments on this remote and mystical island, reflecting on the shared adventures and unforgettable experiences that Svalbard has provided. Those interested may visit the Svalbard Museum. Afterwards, we’ll be transported to the Longyearbyen airport.
